Abstract

This paper presents, based on historical and theoretical research through documentaries, the theme of the mission of the laity based on the Aparecida Document. The object of the research will be to reflect on the mission of the laity based on the Aparecida Document, but recovering the Theology of the Laity from its foundations in the Second Vatican Council, as well as from a deeper look at Latin America based on the documents of the Latin American Conferences. Thus, pointing out the place of the mission of the laity in the church and in society. This paper sought to answer the following question: what is the place of the mission of Laity in the life of the Church and in society? To answer this question, bibliographical research was carried out on the subject using the documents of the Church. The texts consulted, in general, indicate the historical path that the ecclesiology of the Theology of the Laity takes to describe the path through which the laity, based on their Gifts and charisms, develop their mission in the Church. Throughout the history of the Church, the vision of the laity in the Church has been developing and they have been called to carry out their ministries in the life of the Church with protagonism and boldness. And this has been more evident in the 20th century, as the Magisterium seeks to reflect these desires linked to the laity's protagonism in the mission of evangelization. And as all reflection generates a path from this thought to a process of acceptance of the doctrine of the subject and, from this reflection, seeks its development. The foundation of this doctrine on the laity occurs in the Second Vatican Council and has developed in the reflections of the Church over time, as well as in the Latin American and Caribbean episcopal conferences. The disciple of Christ is called to the precision of the Christian life in the social environment in which he lives. Here we can see the relevance of the theme proposed here. And for this reason, the development of theology, doctrine, and the magisterium of the mission of the laity has been present in the life of the Church, seeking maturity for the theme, mainly in the academic ecclesiological sphere. Throughout the history of the Church, many meanings of the meaning of Church have been presented, and Vatican II makes us look at the meaning of Church, People of God. This view demonstrates the universal convention of the faithful to belong to the Catholic Church. The meaning of Church corresponds to that which is linked to Tradition, which over time develops theologically in the history of the Church during its existence. And with this reflection from the Second Vatican Council through the reflection of the hierarchy, it was realized that it cannot be present in all areas of the salvific mission of the Church and for this reason the laity is indispensable in the mission of the Church, bearing witness to the salvific mission of Christ in the world for the construction of the kingdom of God.
