Da cidade ideal à cidade intencional: cidade ABC - a utopia colaboradora

Abstract

The general theme of this work is the Strategic Planning of Cities using as reference the Strategic Regional Planning of great ABC of São Paulo metropolitan region. After focus the historical and conceptual basis of the strategic notion and of Strategic Planning the respective analysis are presented in two principal straights. ln the first straight there is a return of the ideas which supplied the conception of city since the Old Greece - the Greek polis - until arrive to the intentional city of the current days - the "post modem" city - looking for to grasp the metamorphosis of the city - of the urban, of the own ideas of city and of urban, and of the strategic principles implicit in different moments of the thinking of the city in occidental world until adapt themselves in methodology of planning. ln this moment is also put in evidence the theoretical and methodological principles of the Strategic Planning of Cities and the new purposes and perspectives of urban management in this end/ beginning of century. ln the second straight - after an historical rebuilding of the (re)constitution identity process of the great ABC of São Paulo metropolitan region - is been carrying out an analysis of content of the Regional Planning of the Great ABC of São Paulo metropolitan region, looking for to grasp lhe contradictory nature of the present strategies in their purposes of action. There are approaches of specially thematics referent to the building of the new regional identity to the broaden of the systemic competitiveness of the region and to the implementation of sustainability development practices and building of new regional identity. Which is the new city[1]region that is been intended intentionally to be built? Which is the nature of the utopia present in the idea of the ABC City? These questions supply and promote the interaction among different reflections contained in this study
